A fictional catalog mailer featuring the work of Charles S. Anderson combined with my own.
THE ALIBI BAR
I was commissioned to create a logo and wall mural for The Alibi, a sports bar on Rainey Street. It was important for the branding to be fun, recognizable and stand out from the competition. The brand concept shows conflicting viewpoints by using black and white in contrast with bright color. Using a whimsical, fat typeface, I modified the negative space in the A to create a question mark. The business card provides a how-to-guide for a solid defense, along with a map to the bar. Art direction of social media completes the mood showcasing a bright and fun atmosphere.
The Golden Goose Bar & Cocktail Lounge
The Golden Goose is a dark dive bar with a sophisticated edge. Design of the cocktail menu, business cards and social media flyers are modern and high contrast with surprise elements of UV gloss, color and original art. Hand painted signs ad an element of human craft to the atmosphere.
Boothe Building Company
I was commissioned to create a logo for a small building business in La Grange, Texas. They wanted the logo to be approachable and evoke trust to appeal to the local demographic. I combined a modified script with a sturdy geometric type to communicate a reliable, friendly company. The color palette is inspired by rusted construction tools, and bright photography lets the work speak for itself.
One of my favorite books about children growing up locked away in an attic. They often make flowers out of paper to pass the time. I cut the title out of construction paper in a child-like manner. Then used light from a scanner to create the effect of abandoned paper scraps. I chose hot pink to catch the eye and distressed the image to create an eerie mood of innocence lost.
Fee Brother's Aphrodisiac Elixirs
A fictional beverage product made with natural aphrodisiac ingredients meant to serve four themes: beauty, love, power and pleasure. The Elixirs provide an interactive experience to the consumer with charms on the neck containing special ingredients and corresponding poetry on the back of each bottle. The carrier package includes information on how aphrodisiacs work as well as a DIY love spell attached with lace.
DTOUR is a fictional travel magazine that focuses on dark tourism. Because the concept is controversial, I wanted the design to be loud but controlled. Sensational photography, reversed out headlines and body type contrast with white space to create a dynamic look. The heart icons indicate each location's level of sensitivity.
Lindt Chocolate Bar
Lindt is a Swiss chocolate brand with a long history. I wanted to give their classic recipe dark chocolate bar a more contemporary look. Inspired by Swiss design practices, I stripped the extra information, worked with clean lines and bold type. The logotype uses negative space to complete the brand name bringing attention to the label.
